Scott Bartlett keeps an eye out for approaching cars as the Bartlett's cows cross the street to return to their pasture after the morning milking on the Bartlett Farm in Concord, New Hampshire.

I made a special trip to the Bartlett's farm just to get this picture of the cows crossing the road. Many of the smaller and medium sized farms that I visited keep their milk producing cows in barns most of the time but the Bartletts often let their milkers graze in pastures during months when the ground is clear of mud and snow. After the cows are let out of the barn they pretty much know where to go. Scott just had to open and close the fences and make sure the road was clear, the cows did the rest.
