Photo of a milk truck.

A milk truck leaves the Knox farm in Wells River, Vermont. Transportation costs are just one of the many expenses that dairy farmers have to deal with regardless of the current price of milk.

Photojournalist Remarks

This was another shot that I wasn't out looking for at the time but just got when the opportunity came. While traveling along Route 5 in Vermont I saw a farmer feeding a group of cows in a snow covered field during a mild snowstorm. I had been looking for a winter scene like this for awhile so I stopped to get it but by the time I got into the field the shot was gone. While walking back to my jeep a milk truck pulled into the farm. I had also been looking for a shot of a milk truck at a farm to illustrate the transportation costs that farmers pay to get their milk to the processor. I waited for the truck to finish loading the milk and then got this shot as it was leaving. The snow and the unique round barn in the background help make an ordinary shot of milk tanker truck a bit more interesting.
