We're Back:
New Stories To Appear On Photojournalistas.com Every Other Month

After a long delay, new stories will appear in Photojournalistas.com for the foreseeable future. In addition to photo essays and feature stories accompanied by in-depth photography, there will now be equipment reviews and stories on photo technique. Also, within the next couple of weeks, reviews of classic books and good reads, along with DVD reviews will also be appearing on the pages of Photojournalistas.com.

In the January-February 2006 issue, the main story is about ice yachting and ice yacht racing. Anyone who enjoys outdoor photography that lives in Canada, the northern parts of the U.S., or snowy regions of Europe etc. should consider shooting this sport at least once. It is beautiful and action packed, and the people who do it are extremely friendly.

For those who can’t get enough of the digital vs. film debate, some fuel has probably been thrown on the fire. "Slow Progression: My Slow Transition From Film Cameras To Digital Cameras...And Why It's Taking So Long" is about why film still has a place along side digital cameras in the near future, and why this is so. There will undoubtedly be disagreement with this story, but look at with an open mind.

Photo equipment reviews will sometimes deal with new equipment, and at other times they will explore excellent equipment that has been around awhile because of good quality or design. Occasionally classic equipment will also be reviewed. One piece of equipment that has been around for awhile and is still used widely is the Nikon 17-35 f/2.8 AF-S wide angle zoom lens. This rugged and high quality lens that is widely used by Nikon photojournalists is examined in this issue.

In the coming months, more Vanishing Northern New England theme stories will also be added to Photojournalistas.com. To date, stories on dairy farmers, town meetings, Barre, Vermont’s granite industry, and the declining use of traditional maple sap buckets have been covered under this topic. Soon, stories on granite quarry workers across New England and the state of hunting, commercial fishing and logging in Northern New England will be posted to round out this theme. There will also be stories on a variety of other topics in the coming months. All of the stories posted previously to this issue can be found in the archives section.
