Jim Feeney of Marion, Massachusetts attaches a blade to the front of his ice yacht while assembling it in the launch area before the start of the "Beanpot" Massachusetts DN Class ice yacht racing championships on Watuppa Pond in Fall River, Massachusetts in February of 2005. The blades are one of the more expensive parts of getting into ice yacht racing, costing up to around a thousand dollars or more for a top notch racing craft. Ice yachters can use different types of blades for different types of weather and ice conditions, and for when there is snow on the ice.
